Poon Hill Trek Itinerary

01 DAY

Drive from Pokhara hotel to Nayapul & trek to Ulleri (1960m) - 6 hrs trek

At 7 a.m. from your hotel, you will be picked up by our guide then take you on a private car/taxi/jeep drive to Nayapool for an hour. After we reach Nayapool, we begin our real hike.

We commence our Poon Hill Trek from Nayapul, accessible by tracing the path along the Modi River. En route, we’ll traverse a landscape adorned with local villages, welcoming teahouses, picturesque green rolling hills, flowing rivers, and encounters with friendly locals.

Further up, the enchanting village of Hile, your journey unfolds as you reach Tikhedhunga. The trail takes a steeper turn, ascending via a stone staircase after crossing a suspension bridge. The uphill walk is both challenging and rewarding, providing stunning panoramic views of the surrounding Himalayan landscape.

Ulleri, the destination of this trek, welcomes weary hikers with its serene atmosphere and breathtaking vistas, making the journey an unforgettable experience for those seeking adventure and immersion in the Himalayan wilderness.

02 DAY

Trek from Ulleri to Ghorepani (2874m) - 5/6 hrs trek

Today, our Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek path leading from Ulleri to Banthanti meanders through enchanting rhododendron and oak woodlands. Following the Bhurungdi River, you will eventually reach Nange Thanti, experiencing the thrill of a day-long trek through the captivating jungle.

If you hike in springtime, Poon Hill Trek promises a visual feast with abundant rhododendron blooms, diverse wildlife sightings, and a panoramic display of snow-capped peaks. A brief jungle hike leads you to the picturesque Ghorepani, where you can relish the awe-inspiring views of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Annapurna.

03 DAY

Early morning hike to Poon Hill (3210m.) and trek to Tadapani (2630m.) - 5/6 hrs trek

We wake up early morning to hike up to the famed vantage point of Poon Hill-3,210m. The climb to Poon Hill takes around 45 minutes. As the sun rises, the views are breathtaking, a wide Himalayan scenery stretching from Dhaulagiri 8167m (the world’s seventh highest peak) to Manaslu (8156m) (the world’s eighth highest peak) in the east, with the mighty Annapurna range is a fantastic experience we enjoy in between them.

We will return to our camp in time for a warm breakfast. Afterward, the first part involves climbing along the ridges of the hills in pine and rhododendron forest to 3030m and then descending to a second pass, Deurali. The steep descent becomes gentle as we reach Banthanti where we will stop for lunch. From Banthanti, the trail follows the stream down to a bridge and starts climbing to Tadapani (2630m). We crash out at our lodge in Tadapani.

04 DAY

Trek from Tadapani to Ghandruk village then drive to Pokhara - 4 hrs trek and 4 hrs drive

Today is the last day of our Poon Hill Trek. We depart from the picturesque Tadapani village and proceed towards the renowned Ghandrunk village. The trail is smooth, leading us through Bhaisikharka, a charming village on the way to Ghandrunk. Ghandrunk Village is a wonderful and captivating destination, offering breathtaking views of various mountains and landscapes. Here, you can immerse yourself in exploring local culture, visit the Gurung Museum, and experience the authenticity of a Gurung village.

After having lunch at Ghandruk village, a short 10-minute downhill walk takes us to Ghandrunk Danda, from where we can avail of local or private transportation for a drive to Pokhara. The journey to Pokhara takes about 4 hours, passing through Syauli Bazaar, Birethati, Nayapul, and finally reaching our destination in Pokhara. We will transfer to your hotel in Pokhara.
