Here we have introduced the Pikey peak trek where you can get the finest view of Mount Everest in a short period. Pikey peak trek is one of the fast-growing trekking trails located in the Solukhumbu district. The highest point of this trek is 4,070 meters from sea level. It is a newly discover hiking route in the lower Everest region.

A trail to pikey peak introduces traditional living styles of several ethnic groups. Gurung, Sherpa, Tamang, and Chettri are the main ethnic community that lives around since the early. Besides it, one may enjoy a stunning perspective of the surrounding landscapes. On this short trek, you can get a grand view of mountains like Mt. Everest, Lhotse, and Amadablam. Along with the impressive sight of Mt. Makalu, Kanchenjungha and Langtang to the far west can add a pleasant flavor to your trip.

The most significant locations for natural and biological diversity are said to be the Likhupikey Rural Municipality and the Solu Dudhkunda Rural Municipality. Our 10 days Pikey peak trek also gives an opportunity to explore numerous Buddhist temples (monastery, stupa, and gompa). This trek is also for those hikers who do not have extreme physical fitness but have a strong desire to see the tallest peak on earth ‘Everest’ closely.

Travelers may indeed enjoy some of the spectacular sunrise and sunset views at Pikey Peak. It has extensive Sunpati, Pine, and Rhododendron forests as well as a variety of birds and animals. Therefore, the Pikey region is a home to Lophophorus, Crimson Horned Pheasant, Tiger, Wild Bear, Panda, and Ghoral. Similarly, you can see domestic animals such as Chauri, Yak and cow anywhere in this area.

Our pikey peak venture begins with a 6/7 hrs drive by jeep from Kathmandu to Bamti Bhandar. There is also an option of short flights from Kathmandu to Phaplu instead drive. But, flights on this route are not running regularly due to the low visitor flow. The next day, we commence our hike with a scenic trail along the beautiful villages. Simultaneously, walk across the sub-tropical forests, rivers and thrilling swinging bridges. On this journey, we trek about 6-8 hrs every day from Bamti Bhandar to Phaplu via Namkheli, Golla and Pikey peak base camp.

Optimal Trekking Season for Pikey Peak Trek

The optimal trekking season for this trek is the spring and autumn season. March to May and September to November are the favorable months to embark on this journey. In these months weather will be clear and pleasant. It is not advised to take this journey during the monsoon season. Due to the continuous rainfall, trails remains slippery and chances of encountering bloody leeches. Even more, visibility is also low due to the foggy weather.
