The Mardi Himal Trek from Pokhara in Nepal offers adventurers a lesser-known but equally spectacular alternative to the more popular treks in the Annapurna region. Situated just east of the renowned Annapurna Base Camp route, this trek provides stunning views of the Annapurna and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) peaks, along with opportunities to experience the unique culture and hospitality of local communities.
The trek typically spans 5-7 days, starting from Pokhara and leading through diverse landscapes ranging from lush forests to alpine meadows. Highlights include the serene High Camp, where trekkers can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks, and the Mardi Himal Base Camp offers an up-close encounter with the stunning mountain scenery. With its moderate difficulty level and relatively fewer crowds, the Mardi Himal Trek is perfect for those seeking a more tranquil and off-the-beaten-path Himalayan experience.
Our family (with three young adults between 16 and 19) wanted to do the ABC-Trek, but due to bad weather and risk of avalanches we changed our plans and did the Mardi Himal-Trek instead – with our wonderful guide Prakash! He was very, very helpful, flexible and sympathetic. He made us feel like an enlarged family. Thank you soooo much, company guide Prakash!!!
The trek was absolutely amazing with stunning views – and less crowded than the ABC-trek.
So, if you plan a trek either to the Annapurna region or to the Everest region, ask for this company, they does a great job!
