It offers a blend of cultural encounters, natural beauty, and a sense of accomplishment as you explore the enchanting landscapes of Nepal’s Himalayas. This unforgettable journey promises memories that will last a lifetime and leave you yearning to return to this mesmerizing region for more adventures in the future.
The Short Annapurna Circuit Trek is a breathtaking adventure that takes trekkers through some of the most awe-inspiring landscapes in Nepal. Stretching around the Annapurna Massif, this iconic trek offers a diverse range of experiences, from lush forests and terraced fields to high mountain passes and dramatic snow-capped peaks. While the full circuit is an extensive and challenging journey, a shorter version is becoming increasingly popular for those with limited time or physical capabilities.
The Short Annapurna Circuit Trek usually starts from Chame via Besishar and goes up to Muktinath then drives along the Kali Gandaki gorge. Although it covers only a portion of the complete circuit, this shorter version still provides a fantastic opportunity to experience the Annapurna region’s natural beauty and cultural richness.
The trek begins in the lower altitudes, where the terrain is more forgiving and the climate is milder. As you walk through charming villages and cultivated farmlands, you’ll have a chance to observe the daily lives of the local communities. The region is predominantly inhabited by Gurung and Thakali people, known for their warm hospitality and vibrant cultural traditions. Along the way, tea houses and guesthouses provide comfortable accommodations and delicious Nepali cuisine, making it an enjoyable journey for trekkers of all backgrounds.
As the trail ascends, the scenery gradually changes, and you’ll find yourself surrounded by dense rhododendron forests and cascading waterfalls. During the spring season, these forests come alive with a riot of colorful blossoms, creating a spectacular visual display. The trek also offers glimpses of the snow-capped peaks of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri, teasing you with what lies ahead.
One of the highlights of the Short Annapurna Circuit Trek is the visit to Manang and cross Throng La- 5,416 meters. This beautiful village is situated at an altitude of around 3,500 meters and is the gateway to Thorong La Pass, a famous high-altitude mountain pass that lies at an elevation of 5,416 meters. Thorong La is the highest point of the complete Annapurna Circuit and offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding peaks.
Despite its relatively shorter duration, the trek still offers ample opportunities for acclimatization. Taking sufficient time to acclimatize is essential when trekking at high altitudes to prevent altitude sickness and ensure a safe and enjoyable journey. Trekkers can take rest days in Manang and explore nearby places, such as Gangapurna Lake and Braga Monastery, to immerse themselves further in the local culture and natural beauty.
While the Short Annapurna Circuit Trek might not cover the entirety of the classic route, it remains a rewarding experience that showcases the best of the Annapurna region. The trek’s diversity, from the lowlands to the high mountains, ensures that every day brings new adventures and breathtaking scenery. Whether you are an experienced trekker or a novice, this trek can be tailored to your abilities and interests, making it accessible to a wide range of travelers.
We have another longer version 15 Days Annapurna Circuit Trek that covers the entire classic Annapurna round route

The valley became increasingly steep as we proceeded towards Bhratang (2950m).
Beyond the pine forest, the valley transformed from a V-shape to a gentle U-shape, unveiling a breathtaking panorama. The majestic east peak of Annapurna II and the alluring Pisang Peak (6091m.) adorned the north-eastern horizon. Our path led us to a captivating sight of a long Mani wall beside a bridge, welcoming us to the lower village of Pisang, where we spent the night at a cozy lodge.

Not far away, the grandeur of Annapurna IV (7525m.) reveals itself from the wide plains of the Sabje Khola Valley. A little further along, we’ll cross the reduced flow of the Marshyangdi Khola via a sturdy wooden bridge, leading to the charming village of Mungji. After a short but steep climb, we’ll arrive at Manang, a surprisingly large village in this remote mountain region. Rest for the night at a cozy lodge, surrounded by the awe-inspiring beauty of the Himalayas.

Throughout the day, we’ll be treated to awe-inspiring vistas of Annapurna III, Tilicho, Pisang, and Chulu Peaks.
In the afternoon, we might pay a visit to the Himalayan Rescue Association in Vraja village. There, we’ll receive valuable insights into acute mountain sickness, including its symptoms and preventive measures. It will be an informative session that equips us to stay safe and healthy during our adventure.

Recently, did a guided Annapurna Circuit Short Trek with Glorious Himalaya company. I’m pleased to share my positive Nepal travel experience with you all.
I did this trek in the off-season to avoid the flow of tourists on the trail. Throughout the trek, I was accompanied by my guide Bishal. He was very experienced and helpful in each and every step of my journey.
We started our journey with a local bus drive from Kathmandu to Besishar and the next day took a local jeep to Dharapni and then our trekking began. We even visited Ganapurna Lake in Manang district during our acclimatization day at Manang. The last day from Thorong Phedi to Muktinath was a challenging as well as rewarding day of our entire journey.
It was a memorable adventure in my life and I surely will do another challenging trek in Nepal as I’m only 24 years old now. So, there are still soo many beautiful hiking routes that I have to trek through.
Once again, thanks a lot to the entire team of Glorious Himalaya for this unforgettable journey.
Due to our limited time in Nepal, we did a short Annapurna circuit trek with Glorious Himalaya in May 2023. We couple went on this trek along with our private group and porter and the trip was phenomenal. The weather was good enough to see the great views of mountains and most importantly on 8th day from Throng Phedi to Muktinath weather was in our favor.
Thanks to the guide Ram and porter Akash for your generous support throughout the trek. Additionally, we would like to thank Mr. Ganesh, who managed our entire Annapurna circuit trek.
We will again visit Nepal and surely do another long trek with your company.
