Itinerary

01 DAY

Drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal and hike to Chisapani (2,165 m) - 4/5 hrs hike

At 7: 30 in the morning, our guide will pick you up from your hotel in Kathmandu and take you on a short drive. It is a scenic one-hour drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal, which is a starting point of our hike.

After reaching Sundarijal, we begin our hike by following the trail through lush forests, stone steps and villages. We will enjoy beautiful views of the Kathmandu Valley and surrounding hills throughout the hike. Our Nagarkot journey is in the Shivapuri National Park and this natural park is full of peaceful forests and fresh mountain air.

After walking 4 to 5 hours, we will reach Chisapani, a charming hilltop village from where we can enjoy spectacular sunset views over the mountain range.

Stay overnight at a teahouse in Sundarijal with full board meals.

02 DAY

Hike from Chisapani to Nagarkot (2,175 m) - 7 hrs hike

Early in the morning on a clear day, we can enjoy the breathtaking sunrise over the mountains. Today’s hike is about 7-8 hours, which is longer than the other days.

After having breakfast, we set out with our backpacks and begin the hike through pine, oak and rhododendron forests. The trail initially descends gently before continuing along forested ridges and open countryside.

We passes through beautiful rural settlements such as Chauki Bhanjyang, Jarsing Pauwa and Kartike Bhanjyang. These villages have traditional houses, cultivated hillsides and a peaceful lifestyle.

The trail from Chispani to Nagarkot is relatively flat, though it is a long-distance hike. The trail offers panoramic views of the mountains such as Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Jugal, Dorje Lakpa, Gaursihankar and Everest in the far east.

After walking 7 hours, we will reach Nagarkot, which is today’s destination. Nagarkot is a famous hilltop destination for Himalayan sunrise and sunset views near Kathmandu Valley. Enjoy the evening with the sunset view from the hotel.

03 DAY

Hike from Nagarkot to Changunarayan and then drive back to Kathmandu - 4 hrs hike

We will enjoy the spectacular sunrise view over the mountains from Nagarkot.

After having breakfast, we begin our hike following the scenic downhill trail toward Changunarayan temple. Today’s hike passes through beautiful forests, terraced farmland and traditional rural settlements.

The first part of the trail from Nagarkot to Telkot village goes through the pine and rhododendron forest and offers beautiful views of the Kathmandu Valley.

After Telkot, the trail is generally easy and downhill, although there are a few short uphill sections towards the final approach to Changunarayan temple. We will visit Changunarayan temple, one of the important world heritage sites inside Kathmandu Valley. The temple is full of Newari architecture, stone sculptures and ancient inscriptions.

After exploring Changunarayan, we will take a drive to your hotel in Kathmandu.
