EBC and Chola Pass Trek: Amazing Experience

By Glorious Himalaya on September 16, 2024 in

From the beginning to the end, the whole trip was well-organized. Ganesh, the company manager, customized the itinerary for us and replied quickly to all of our questions that we had before booking. Upon our arrival in Kathmandu, we were given detailed instructions on the trek, which added to our sense of security.

The real adventure started on the following day. We were booked on one of the popular early morning flights to Lukla (which are favorable due to weather conditions), another indication that Glorious Himalaya values customer service.

It didn’t take long for us to realize that our guide Ganesh was both very knowledgeable and patient when it came to answering questions that came up along the way.

Even more importantly, he made us feel perfectly safe throughout the trek, always warning us of potential dangers such as landslides, loose rocks, ice etc., finding new ways around obstacles and constantly making sure we felt fine. When one of us felt sick, Ganesh was not only very supportive, but he also adapted the itinerary in such a way that we could still complete the trek on time.

The lodges never disappointed us either. While their standards are, of course, not comparable to those found in major cities (something I’m sure any trekker is anyway aware of), there was always a variety of freshly prepared food available (including many vegetarian options), the beds were reasonably comfortable and Ganesh was committed to finding us the best rooms.

Our porter was also amazing. Despite his difficult job, he never failed to maintain a smile on his face and be polite. Above all, he and Ganesh worked together as a team in challenging situations, which was very relieving to us.

Hiring a porter is not mandatory, but we’re glad we did. The high altitude compromises the fitness level and we’re not sure we could have made it if we had to carry everything on our own.

To summarize, we can wholeheartedly recommend Glorious Himalaya and in particular our guide Ganesh to everyone seeking to make unforgettable memories in Nepal.
