Kanchenjunga North and South Base Camps

My husband and I wanted a long trek to a lesser known area and with fewe tourists and he landed on this one. He did all the research and chose Glorious Himalaya because Ganesh was one of the few offering this trip and he was very responsive to our inquiries and requests. Lots of emails went back and forth and he made sure it all came together with transport, accomodations, guide, porter, etc. We combined this trip with another trek in the southwest of the country (with another service) and Ganesh worked with us to mesh our two disparate trips. Out guide UR was excellent. His English was pretty good, so we could usually communicate what we needed to. Our porter was also excellent, though he didn’t really speak English, but that was not needed. Learn some Nepali, not only do the people appreciate it, it did help. No fault of the company, but be warned, the “huts” along this trek are rough. Sanitation is low, all outhouses and little ways to clean up so bring wipes. Once in the Kanch conservation area, the “huts” there cater a bit better to tourists, but it is still rough. And once you get to Tseram and north it is cold, we were cold for over a week and we come from the far north US, we wore every bit of clothing. Bring water purification method. The trails are not easy and we hike mountains and are in pretty good shape – up, down, and around and often rough footing, so train before you go. Do not expect to have the opportuinity to bath for days (3 weeks in our case).
