Lukla is the beginning point of all the Everest region treks and offers wifi, the internet as well as charging facilities. Ncell and Ntc 3G gsm network is available to use the internet and even for phone calls. In addition, Everest Link prepared card is also handy to use the internet. At Lukla, charging facilities are common at every teahouse without paying extra.

Lukla is a famous and popular town due to its airport with many nice lodges, hotels, and resorts. Where one can enjoy the facilities of Wi-Fi and the internet, in the lodge, especially on the way back.

AT PHAKDING – 2,645 M, 3 hours walk from Lukla:

Starting the trek from Lukla an easy walk down to Dudh Koshi River, then on a pleasant winding trail. The walk leads through several nice villages adorned with Buddhism prayer monuments. Reaching Phakding for an overnight stop, a moderate size village with many nice lodges. Where all lodge with hydroelectric power to charge your electronic gadgets, includes facilities of internet services and WI-FI. Charging electronic devices are free of cost here as the high voltage of electricity is generated from the Dudh Koshi river.

Sometimes it is free of charge, whereas in some lodges have to pay fees. The area is located in a river gorge, where the internet and WI-FI might get interrupted in between.

From Phakding walk on a pleasant gradual path for the first half entering Sagarmatha National Park. Sagarmatha is a name for Mt. Everest in Nepal, which the native Sherpa calls Chomolungma. From the park entrance reach Jorsalle the last village on route Namche Bazaar. After lunch on a nice trail crossing over a high bridge, a steep undulating uphill reaches Namche Bazaar.

A haven for trekkers and local Khumbu villagers, the hub and capital of Khumbu, and the major junction for various adventures. Namche Bazaar is steeped with many excellent hotels, lodges, and resorts for all types of travelers.

Where Wi-Fi and internet services are available in every lodge as well as in restaurants, cafés, and pubs. A perfect place for rest and acclimatization and also for a short hike, exploring the scenic viewpoints.

In the comfort of a lovely lodge, with facilities of Ncell and NTC 3 G gsm network coverage. Everest link WI-Fi prepaid cards are available but not for use on phone data.

The internet and phone services get much better higher up from Namche Bazaar.

A scenic walk from Namche Bazaar to the high Tengboche Monastery, overlooking grand views of Everest with majestic Ama Dablam.

In the afternoon a few hours climb after lunch into a lovely cool forest of rhododendron and pine trees.

Reaching on top, Tengboche Monastery amidst forest surrounding encircled by an array of snow peaks with views of Mt. Everest.

Tengboche with a few nice lodges, with excellent services of Ncell 3g gsm network coverage. Recommended for using phone calls and internet data as the Ncell Tower stands close to the lodge.

But Ntc gsm network coverage is disturbed sometimes, where Everest link WI-Fi prepaid cards are available. It can be used in case Ncell data is not working, Cell Phone and camera battery charging are available. One needs to pay the price for charging each item per hour basis. Entering the dining and main reception of the lodge where you can recharge your device.

Great walk downhill and past the tree line, then up to Pangboche the last permanent village. From here onwards are just temporary settlements to cater to the needs of trekkers.

The walk with an hour up to Dingboche, located in a scenic Imjatse valley.
A large settlement with many fine lodges from Dingboche to Gorakshep every lodge with private solar power. Trekkers can recharge electronic appliances at extra cost, but NTC and NCELL network doesn’t work, even if it does. Bad and slow reception with disturbance due to its location in a valley. Enclosed within high towering peaks of Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam with views of Island Peak towards the east. At this place, we recommend you use the Everest link prepaid card for better internet. 

Cell Phone and camera battery charging are available from solar power at extra cost at your lodge.

Trekkers can use a power bank for phone charging and camera batteries at the dining reception of the lodge.

At Dingboche most trekkers spend an extra day for acclimatization, taking a short hike for grand views of surrounding snow peaks.

From Dingboche heading higher, the walk on gentle up with a few short steep climbs from Thugla. The rest of the trek is pleasant with a touch of high altitude reaching Lobuche before Everest base camp.

Lobuche with many good lodges, but the Ncell and NTC gsm network coverage is bad with no coverage. Where Everest link WI-Fi prepaid cards are available, can be used. In case WI-Fi prepaid cards are not available at your lodge, can buy them from another lodge nearby.

For Cell Phone and camera battery charging, solar power is available at an extra cost. Can use the power bank for charging cellular devices also.

AT GORAKSHEP – 5,180 M and AT EVEREST BASE CAMP – 5,364 M.

Due to its location in Gorakshep the Ncell and NTC gsm network coverage works with a good 2 g network. For phone calls and moderate data connection, Everest link WI FI prepaid cards are available and suggested to use.

Cell phones or electronic gadgets for charging are available at extra cost at your lodge in Gorakshep for using solar power. Gorakshep for overnight halt after visiting Everest base camp.

Walk to Everest Base Camp, spending only an hour just to be at the foot of the world’s highest peaks. But for Ncell and NTC gsm network coverage can receive a moderate connection for a phone call. Where Everest link WI-FI is available at Everest Base Camp. We advise you to carry a power bank because the charging facility is not available at Everest Base Camp.

Kalapather is the only place on this trek for a better and closest view of Mt. Everest. Therefore, every trekker pays their visit to capture the breathtaking sunrise and mountain range.

At Kalapather, Ncell and NTC network doesn’t work well. Instead, we recommend you use the Everest link prepaid card for the internet. There isn’t a teahouse or any charging stations.

Some useful tips for your EBC Trek

  • If you only want to use the internet and stay connected with your beloved ones, the Everest link is the best option for WIFI or the internet for this trek. In most places, it works better than the other gsm networks.
  • Buy a SIM card in Kathmandu and it is also useful for phone calls. You can easily find NCEll and NTC sim cards nearby your hotel in Kathmandu. Remember that network coverage for phone calls and the internet are not accessible at every place on this route.
  • Bring 2-pin (C-type) power sockets for charging on the trek. It can be purchased for around $2-3 at mobile shops in Kathmandu.
  • While charging your gadgets in the dining room at a teahouse, you must inform at the reception.
  • To protect the power of the batteries wrap them in thick clothes because the power of batteries drains quickly due to the cold weather.
  • Electricity in Lukla, Phakding, and Namche Bazaar is powered from hydro and provides free charging facilities. Therefore, find the best hotels in these places that offer charging facilities without any extra cost.
  • Bring some extra batteries for your cameras.
  • Bring a power bank of at least 10,000 mAh or a solar charger that can be very useful in the mountain and help to reduce your charging expenses.
